Here comes the BRIDE!

My sister is engaged!

My little sister just got engaged over the weekend and I am very excited for her! She is one of my best friends and my kindred spirit.

Because of this wonderful news I also have an excuse to post all things wedding! I will begin with criteria that would complement her upcoming celebration. It will be a summer wedding, and, knowing her, sweet and simple without too much ostentation. Thus:

To begin, the dress. Ah, yes, the dress. Can anyone say drool fest? For my sister's wedding I see her in a very sweet dress, not too flamboyent or princessy. I have found some dresses that I think would suit her:

Although short length wedding dresses have popped up I absolutely do not like them. Though their styles are pretty, the idea of a knee-length wedding dress makes me shudder. (unless you are having an on-the-beach-wedding I guess). I cannot separate the profound importance and elegance of a wedding from some type of gown or to-the-floor dress. Call me old-fashioned, but I just cannot do it.
And hey, since I'm on a roll, why not take a moment to rant about something else in the wedding fashion world. If you are an active member in a particular religion that emphasizes modesty (as myself and my family are) you might find that your choice of wedding dresses is sorely limited. The amount of 'modest' dresses (and I use that term loosely but, say, for my particular code of modesty that means a dress that covers the shoulders and is not too low in either the front or back and blah blah) is almost laughable. Not to mention that most of them look eerily similar and don't vary much. I applaud those who have pioneered the effort to expand the selection and styles of modest gowns but they are quite alone. To accompany my rant, I thought I would post some of the prettier modest dresses I found.

Flowers:

I think my sister is going to opt for a color theme of white, yellow, and dark green. The flowers, therefore, must follow suit:

Whew! Okay, enough for now. I am swooning over more dresses and cannot concentrate! I will add more later!
